Run, cycle, walk or swim 270km in the first 27 days of February.
Participants could tackle the challenge however they wanted: smash it out in a couple of weeks, tackle 10km a day or share the distance with friends.
The inspiration & result
Set up by a friend of Sophie's this fundraiser was to mark the first of Sophie's birthdays we would have to celebrate without her.
What better way to mark the date than a challenge that gets you outside and moving. We encouraged participants to take on the challenge the way Sophie would have: with friends and family, using the time to socialise and catch up. The challenge became a opportunity for those involved to talk, reconnect and take a much needed break from the stress and isolation of COVID lockdowns.
So many people got in touch during and after this challenge to say how much it had helped them with their mental health, how the awareness and message around this event encouraged them to open up and talk about their hidden struggles.
The challenge raised over £60,000 for the mental health charity Sea Sanctuary.
