27:270km CHALLENGE

Sophie would have turned 27 on the 4th February 2021 so what better way to celebrate than a challenge that gets you outside and moving!

The challenge was to run, cycle, walk or swim 270km in the month of February, however you could adapt your goal to suit you! You could have set yourself a different goal, split the distance with a friend, spread it over the month or smash it out in a few weeks.

Sophie saw exercising as a means of socialising and catching up with her friends - so what better way to participate than getting your friends involved and tackling this challenge together. Participants used the challenge to talk, reconnect and take a much needed break from the stress and isolation of lockdown. So many people got in touch during and after this challenge to say how much it had helped them with their mental health, how the awareness and message around this event encouraged them to open up and talk about their hidden struggles.

Participants' families, friends and employers sponsored them by donating to the Just Giving page linked below. This event raised over £60,000 for the mental health charity, Sea Sanctuary. We are now working closely with them to use these funds to make a real difference to those struggling with their mental health.
